Network for Good
The "Network for Good" organiztion is an organization that notice the affects of global warming and find ways to slow down global warming. They give examples of ways we can slow down or prevent global warming. They talk about where global warming affected the most, what it is affected such as plants and animals. They also have information on what we can do to help such as "turning off the lights and using less chemical sprays to cut down on the greenhouse gases in the air." They also have ways to help by donating and volunteering to help stop global warming.

In this chapter, Al Gore is making an argument that the earth is changing due to global warming. He gives examples of how global warming is affecting earth by pictures. For example, he includes pictures of famous ice capped mountains and a glacier covered in ice and then shows a picture of the same image years later. The only thing different is there is little or no ice at all in the picture. This proves that the earth’s temperature is rising. He includes a graph that shows how the temperature has raised since the medieval warm period.
The author’s bias is that global warming is bad. He gives evidence such as charts and pictures to prove his point. Questions for the author are how bad will global warming get? When? How does the melting ice affect the people? “The hottest year recorded during this entire period was 2005” “This means the world’s temperatures will just keep going up and up too.”

In this article, Gar Smith gives a brief description of detrimental global warming in the world. Gar explains that global warming will be negative and cause things such as hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis, and other fierce weather. For example, he gives evidence of how storms had such a hit in France that it affected the peoples’ needs for everyday things such as failed emergency cooling systems because the power lines broke. Also in France, blackouts due to a raise in temperature, blocked roads caused by fallen trees from strong winds and hurricanes, and so on.
This information is useful because it gives evidence of past events caused by global warming. However, it was not up to date; it only talked about the past. It did not tell how global warming would cause these disasters and how they will get worst in the future. Gar Smith is biased against global warming because he believes global warming will bring a negative impact.

In this article, Dennis T. Avery argues that global warming would be positive. He explains that a warming of 3.5 °F would create positive increases such as the production of food and positive decreases such as a decrease in harsh weather. He also talks about how species that live in endangered environments would grow and less would die. He even writes about how the people can benefit from global warming. This is “according to Avery” who is director of the Center of the Global Food Issues within the Hudson Institute.
This article is useful because it gives information about positive things that could happen by global warming. The only thing is, is that Dennis does not have a strong evidence of how this might happen. After all he is just talking about a global warming of 3.5ยบ. What if it the temperatures raise? The author is biased towards the positive effects of global warming and writes about why people should not think global warming is detrimental. For example, he states that “activist said that acid rain from industrial pollution would destroy the forest, but research says that acid rain is a minor problem mainly due to natural factors.”
